Welcome to the new Mill Garage (Duns) Ltd website! Whether you’re booking your car in for a service, looking for bodywork repairs, planning a campervan conversion or browsing our latest used vehicles, it’s now quicker and easier to find what you need — on your phone, tablet or computer.
Here’s a look at why we decided it was time for a change, what’s new, and who pulled it all together.
Why Mill Garage Needed a New Website
Mill Garage has been part of the Duns community since 1974, when Jimmy Horne first opened the doors. Now in its third generation, the business has grown to include a full workshop, a bodyshop and our bespoke campervan and motorhome conversions — but our old website hadn’t kept up.
It was built on software that had fallen behind current standards, was slow to load, and made adding vehicles to our stocklist far more awkward than it should have been. Keeping a website up to date matters for speed, for security and for how well you show up on Google, so rather than patch up the old site, we started afresh.
What’s New on the Mill Garage Website
- A brand-new look — built around our new logo, colours and the tartan detail that’s been part of Mill Garage for years.
- A dedicated vehicle stocklist — every car, van and campervan with photo galleries, prices and full specifications. You can filter by make or by what’s in stock, and each vehicle has its own page with a one-tap call button.
- Clear service pages — find out exactly what our workshop, bodyshop and conversions team can do for you.
- Mobile-friendly throughout — the whole site works just as well on a phone as it does on a desktop.
- Latest news and conversion builds — keep up with what’s happening in the workshop and see recent projects.
- Faster, more secure foundations — running on up-to-date software and UK hosting.
Built in the Borders by Black Sheep Digital
The new website was designed and built by Chris at Black Sheep Digital, a WordPress web design agency based just down the road at Foulden in the Scottish Borders. Chris has been building and looking after websites for local businesses, charities and clubs across the Borders and North Northumberland for over twenty-five years!
Chris handled the whole project from start to finish — planning the site structure, designing every page, moving our content and vehicle photos across from the old website, and making sure everything is fast, secure and easy for us to manage day to day.
The Technology Behind the Site
For anyone interested in what’s under the bonnet:
- WordPress — the world’s most popular website platform, running on the latest version of PHP.
- Elementor Pro with the Hello theme — a lightweight, flexible base for the design and page layouts.
- A custom-built stocklist plugin — written specifically for Mill Garage, replacing the slow classified-ads and e-commerce plugins the old site relied on. Adding a vehicle is now one simple form: status, price, make, specification, drag-and-drop photos and a description, with one click to mark a vehicle as sold.
- Advanced Custom Fields Pro — powering the vehicle details and photo galleries.
- Managed UK hosting — looked after by Black Sheep Digital, with ongoing updates and support.
The result is a website that’s quicker for our customers to use, and much quicker for us to keep up to date — which means you’ll see new stock on the site sooner.
